About Mahjong Games
Mahjong solitaire is one of the most-loved puzzle games in the world, and this page collects the best free mahjong games you can play online with no download. Despite the name, it has little to do with the four-player Chinese table game: mahjong solitaire is a single-player matching puzzle that uses the same beautiful tiles. A board of stacked tiles is laid out in front of you, and you clear it by removing identical tiles.
Our collection covers the three most popular styles. Classic mahjong solitaire asks you to match pairs of free tiles – a tile is free when nothing sits on top of it and at least one side is open. Triple-tile mahjong (sometimes called tile match or "mahjong 3") sends tiles to a small tray and clears them in sets of three, so you need to watch your tray space. Mahjong Connect, also known as Onet or Link, lays tiles flat and removes a pair only when a line with no more than two turns can join them.
All three styles reward the same skills: careful observation, short-term memory and a little planning. The golden rule is to think about what each move uncovers. Clearing tiles from the tallest stacks and the ends of long rows usually opens up the board, while grabbing the first pair you see can leave you stuck later. Most games include hints, shuffles or undo buttons if you hit a dead end.
